Every month we pick some of the station’s residents who are really pushing their shows. This month we have Sheba Q, No Nation, Maracuya and Shakhta Records.

Make sure you read what these amazing presenters and/or DJ’s are up to!

Sheba Q

Since starting her first radio show with Subtle back in May 2020, Sheba Q has used her show to cultivate and share her favourite breaks and blends. With Sheba Q’s 13/11/2020 mix featured on ‘TRENCH Radio :10 of the best mixes this week’ list in November 2020, it’s no doubt the investment she puts into curating her setlists are garnering the deserved attention. As a vocalist influenced heavily by folk and jazz music, her show reflects this as both her productions and mixes have been said to “take you on a deep space voyage through jungle’s jazzy, cosmic side”. Sheba Q keeps things fresh with regular collaborations and the occasional 140 mix when the mood takes her. Tune into Subtle Radio every second Friday of the month from 8-9pm GMT to hear new music and release announcements from Sheba Q.

No Nation

No Nation has fostered an eclectic taste in music from an early age.  After picking up the guitar at 12 years old he began exploring the sounds of Jazz, Progressive Rock and Fusion, as well as enjoying the more popular Soul, RnB and Hip Hop records of the 90s and earlier years.  After teaching himself to mix, he hit the London club scene hard with a Residency at Vibe London alongside appearances at popular events like Old School Sundays and GotSoul Sundays, subsequently he obtained bookings at Kinfolk (New York City) and Bonden Bar (Stockholm).

After being introduced to the rave scene late 2019, he then moved away from the Hip Hop scene and began building a vinyl selection including Jungle, DnB and Hardcore. His monthly residency on Subtle Radio looks to explore a fresh take on UK dance music.

As a producer his music is something to be savoured combining a fusion of soulful sounds, chopped breaks and samples. Drawing a lot of his inspiration from music on labels such as Inperspectiv

I’m Maracuya, a Manchester based DJ part of the Not Bad for a Girl collective. My show on Subtle is my opportunity to showcase the very best tunes from across the bass music spectrum. I combine sounds from across the world as well as from the UK, playing genres such as UK Funky and Jungle amongst GQOM and Kuduro.

My show is also a platform for me to highlight DJs that are ones to watch and deserve more recognition. The second part of the show is dedicated to that, with a short interview and mix from my guest of the month.

I’ve got some sick guests in mind for 2021 so I’m excited to see what the year brings!

Shakhta Records

Shakhta Records is a small independent label from Havirov that supports dubstep, grime and similar music genres on the Czechoslovak scene.

Identity inspired by the history of Havirov and the whole Ostrava region, the darkness below him, but also the music, which is just as dark, raw and rough.

The main goal of Shakhta community is get more attention to our DJs, producers and other artists and show them up to the worldwide scene, otherwise bring this music culture to our country and get local scene stronger. All this is closely connected with our surrounding history.
